PUTRAJAYA: Toh Puan Naimah Khalid, the wife of businessman Tun Daim Zainuddin, is expected to be charged on Tuesday (Jan 23).

She is expected to be brought to the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court in the morning to face several charges.

Sources at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission confirmed the matter.

A check on the court e-filing system also showed that her name appears in the list of cases appearing before Judge Azura Alwi at 9am on Tuesday.

However, it is unclear what charges are being levelled against her.

On Jan 10, MACC officers summoned Naimah and the couple's two sons to record their statement.

She claimed that her husband had been persecuted for his success and that there was a plot to make it seem that he was corrupt.

Last month, the MACC seized the family-owned Menara Ilham as part of its investigations.

The MACC had previously said that the investigation carried out against the former finance minister is based on existing laws and information from the Pandora Papers.

The MACC explained that a notice was sent to Daim on June 7 under Section 36 (1) (a) of the MACC Act 2009.

Following the seizure of Menara Ilham, Daim hit out at the investigation on him and his family, claiming that it is nothing short of a political witch-hunt.
